JAMMU, July 30: Today marked the commencement of the first-ever virtual ‘International Conference on Sustainable Finance, Economics & Accounting in The Pre- and Post- Pandemic Era’, jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Management Jammu and University of Bradford, United Kingdom.
This two-day conference features top research scholars from across the globe and further the cause of viewing finance and business through an environmental lens.
The event was inaugurated by Prof B S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, who expressed how important it is in the era of globalization for researchers across the world to come on a singular platform to share their ideas and insights. This initiative of IIM Jammu and University of Bradford, UK will help to forge ties with Universities and Academicians world-wide, he added.
Prof Saeed Akbar, School of Management, University of Bradford, shared his own experience in putting this event together. He urged the participants to use this platform as a networking opportunity for future cross-cultural research work in these domains.
Prof Vishanth Weerakkody, Dean Faculty of Management, Law and Social Sciences, University of Bradford enthralled the audience with a virtual tour of University of Bradford. Through his brief presentation, he laid special emphasis on how the Institute puts forth the cause of sustainable development in a big way, by even integrating it into its architecture with a green campus.
CMA Biswarup Basu, President, Institute of Cost Management Accountants of India, shared his valuable insights on the need for sustainability. He articulately put forth how industries, businesses and Governments are taking cognizance of the importance of sustainable functioning and are working towards a better future.
Earlier, Prof Manoj Kumar, Chairperson MBA, IIM Jammu gave an overview of the key note panel discussions and paper presentation sessions. He also highlighted the importance of research work and collaboration.
