JAMMU, Jan 6: The International Institute of J&K Studies and Analyses (IIJSA) Jammu organised a thought-provoking seminar titled “Scenarios in Jammu, Post De-operationalization of Art 370 in Light of Supreme Court Judgement.”
Held at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) near the 2nd Tawi Bridge in Jammu, the seminar attracted key dignitaries and experts in the field.
Presided over by Kuldeep Khoda, former Jammu and Kashmir DGP, and with Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, AVSM (Retd) as the Guest of Honour, the seminar delved into the intricate aspects of the evolving social, political, and developmental scenarios in Jammu post the Supreme Court’s approval of the Government’s actions on August 5, 2019.
Brigadier (Dr) Vijay Sagar Dheman, Managing Director of IIJSA Jammu, set the tone with a keynote address, shedding light on the unique facets of “Naya Jammu” and its transformation into a vibrant entity as sanctioned by the Supreme Court.
KB Jandial, during the seminar, emphasized the significance of the Supreme Court’s judgment, welcoming its approval of Government actions.
However, he expressed a desire for the adjudication on the issue of Statehood. Jandial envisioned industrialization and prosperity for Jammu resulting from these developments.
Advocate Sumer Khajuria questioned the legality of the adoption process of Art 370 and 35A, dissecting how legal provisions were strategically navigated by the Government in 1949. He spotlighted how these manoeuvres favoured a particular section of J&K.
Major General Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, AVSM (Retd), delivered a passionate yet firm message, urging the Dogra community in Duggar Land to set aside differences and unite. He emphasized seizing the golden opportunity presented by these historical changes to pave the way for the golden evolution of “Naya Jammu Division” for generations to come.
Former DGP Kuldeep Khoda highlighted the positive prospects awaiting the youth of Jammu in the wake of these transformative events.
The seminar, conducted with thorough professionalism, featured Arushi Sharma, a young scholar, as the moderator.
Prof Aekta Gupta, Associate Director of IIJSA Jammu, delivered the welcome address, while Prof Shalini Rana, Honorary Secretary of IIJSA Jammu, presented the vote of thanks.
