NEW DELHI: From being a background dancer to performing for the audiences as an actor, IIFA has always been memorable, says “MS Dhoni-the untold story” fame Sushant Singh Rajput.
Addressing a press conference here last night to announce the 18th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, to be held in New York from July 13-15, Sushant said,”I have always been excited for IIFA since my college days, because that’s when my association with IIFA began.
From being a background dancer to performing for the audiences as an actor, IIFA has always been very memorable to me.”
Sushant will be performing at the awards night .
Talking about his performance at the awards, the 31-year-old actor, who addressed the press conference along with music maestro A R Rahman and his ‘Raabta’ co star Kriti Sanon, said,” I am very grateful to IIFA for giving me a chance to perform.
I doubt I will be performing on my songs, because the films I have done, don’t really have peppy numbers. However, I look forward to my performance at the IIFA awards.”
The 72 hours extravaganza IIFA will have an entertaining mix of fashion, music and dance.
The IIFA festival will have a musical show which will feature multi talented Bollywood star Diljit Dosanjh. There will be a medley performance at IIFA Rocks from Hariharan, Kailash Kher,Mika Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Jonita Gandhi, Neeti Mohan, Javed Ali, Kamaal Khan along with A R Rahman.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahman said,” The 18th edition of IIFA in New York is very special to me and I look forward to sharing the IIFA rock stage with such talented names in the industry.”
The show will celebrate 25 years of the illustrious career and work of the musical maestro in the industry.
The awards will have mesmerising performances by Bollywood superstars like Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Shahid Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon.
On performing at the awards, Kriti Sanon said,”IIFA is a great platform where everyone from the industry travels globally and celebrates the glory of Indian cinema.”
Kriti said that she was enthusiastic for her first performance at the IIFA and also excited about her first visit to New York Bollywood’s youth icon Varun Dhawan will make a debut at IIFA Awards, with a stunning performance and will be also be seen co- hosting a segment of the star-studded awards night.
Saif Ali Khan and Karan Johar will host the star studded night.
This year’s IIFA will feature a string of unique associations –Myntra’s IIFA stomp, a charity fundraiser “Shuruaat” Gala dinner by IIFA in association with The Global Education and Leadership Foundation (tGELF) and the FICCI-IIFA global business forum 2017.
The Gala dinner will aim to provide a platform to contribute and raise awareness for women empowerment, gender equality, clean water and sanitation issues.
The FICCI-IIFA Global Business Forum, supported by Asia Society and US-India Business Council (USIBC), will bring a space for the growth of business between India and the US focusing on the theme of “India- US: Partners in progress for the world”.
The forum will address issues like the future of India-US economic partnership, defence and security, manufacturing,innovation, entrepreneurship,media and entertainment.
The IIFA stomp will have a glamorous fashion show with siblings Shraddha and Siddhant Kapoor as the show stoppers for designers Shane and Falguni Peacock. The designers will also present rising Bollywood star Disha Patani. Myntra’s fashion show will be opened by actress Dia Mirza with Tapsee Pannu as the showstopper.
The 18th Edition of IIFA Awards will air exclusively Live on COLORS from New York at 0900 hrs and have a repeat telecast at 1800 on July 16. (AGENCIES)
