Sir,
The recent trend of surrendering awards by scholars poets and social workers is of course a matter of concern for the whole country.
One wonders to understand that why these learned people opted to adopt such a way to protest against Noida incident which is of course a serious incident. But why these people remained silent on earlier occasions when far more serious communal and inhuman incidents happened in the past.
As is known to all that Sahitya Academy is neither political nor Governmental organisation. It has nothing to do with what is happening in the country. Returning of awards is not a wise decision. There are other ways to register protests against injustice and communal incidents.
Frankly speaking India’s position is for more better than the other countries of the world especially Pakistan-Afghanistan regarding human rights violations etc where the position of minorities is in no way better than slaves. Has any awardee ever dared to speak about what is happening in our neighbourhood? The answer is big No. Let good sense prevails upon these learned persons not to disrespect the awards and to work for the betterment of the society in the best interest of the country.
Yours etc…
