DDWARI inaugurated at Gurah Slathia

SAMBA, Sept 7: Mukesh Singh, IGP Jammu-Zone accompanied by Rohit Khajuria, Deputy Commissioner Samba and Shakti K Pathak, SSP Samba inaugurated Drug De-addiction, Welfare, Awareness and Rehabilitation Institute (DDWARI) at Gurah Slathia, Vijaypur in presence of prominent and respectable persons viz Sarpanches and Panches.
Samba Police as a part of its commitment to comprehensively defeat the problem of drug menace among the youth has established DDWARI which is a unique of its kind and the only Drug De-addiction Centre in the district.
The DDWARI has been setup by joint efforts of Samba Police, Civil Administration, Pharmaceutical Companies and Civil Society Samba. It has 10 bedded capacity for drug addicts who can seek their admission for counseling and rehabilitation. It has a dedicated counseling cell with a medical team for the inmates admitted in the DDWARI for their proper treatment. The various services offered by the DDWARI includes outpatient treatment, in patient treatment, follow up of rehabilitated drug abuser, recreation, psychotherapy for effective rehabilitation and preparing for constructive employment post treatment. The treatment of the patient will go through various phases including pre-treatment stage, detoxification, rehabilitation, psychotherapy and post treatment-followup.
SSP Samba in his welcome address said that establishment of DDWARI is an initiative of Samba Police to save the youth from the ill effects of drugs through counseling, treatment and rehabilitation. He thanked the Lion Club Samba, Rotary Club Samba, President Industry Association Samba/Bari Brahmana, Sarpanches and Panches and other members for their support.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu Zone urged upon the people specially the locals of the area to cooperate and support the administration in successful functioning of this institute.
At the conclusion, Aijaz Ahmad Zargar, Additional SP Samba presented vote of thanks.
Later, a plantation drive was also carried out by the IGP Jammu Zone and other dignitaries within the premises of DDWARI.
