JAMMU, Oct 15: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh held a meeting with Range DIGs and district SSPs of Jammu Zone through video conferencing here today to discuss present security scenario, law and order of Jammu Zone ahead of Panchayat/Zila Parishad Elections and on the opening of Darbar move offices at Winter Capital.
IGP Jammu briefed the officers about various challenges which likely to be faced in the winter capital of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir in the threadbare manner. The main issues which includes are forthcoming Navratra festivals, Panchayat/Zila Parishad Elections and opening of Darbar move offices at Jammu.
A detailed briefing was given by the Range DIGs and District SSPs with regard to various important security related issued of their respective Range and district and also with regard to the police and security arrangements are being planned for forthcoming Panchayat/Zila Parishad Elections and other important events.
Singh also held a detailed discussions on various issued raised during the meeting and advised them to enhance the security arrangements. Ensure adequate police and security arrangements around the Civil Secretariat, Jammu, Lt Governor’s routes being adopted to reach Civil Secretariat from Raj Bhawan Jammu and also ensure effective deployment to deal any law and order situation especially on the day of opening of Darbar move office at Jammu.
Instructions were given that checking and frisking at various Nakas at NH-44 and interior highways and also in city and its outskirts should be geared up and made purposeful.
The manpower manning these Nakas need to be properly supervised and briefed by the SDPOs and SHOs and make them accountable.
IGP Jammu also advised the district SSPs to organizing sports tournaments under Civic Action Programme, remain prepared for Range Level Crime meetings and also work constantly on emerging trends on terror in Jammu region. The officers were also directed to mobiles all the resource available with them to ensure optimum use for smooth conduct of the Panchayat/Zila Parishad elections.
