SRINAGAR, Sept 8: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar today visited the North and South portals of the new tunnel and control room and held a detailed meeting.
He conducted a physical security review on the ground and was accompanied by IG CRPF Deepak Ratan, DIG South Kashmir Range, DIG CRPF, SSP Kulgam.
IGP Kashmir instructed field officers of police and CRPF to prepare and implement a comprehensive joint security-grid of old Jawahar Tunnel and new Navyug tunnel.
Control room official at the Tunnel presented a demonstration before IGP and other officers regarding the functioning of CCTV cameras and other gadgets.
IGP Kashmir advised field officials of Navyug tunnel and NHA to conduct a mock drill of rescue action along with police and CRPF at the earliest.
Some additional deployments of CRPF were also decided for the tunnel.
