JAMMU, May 31: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, today reviewed security and facilitation arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath yatra-2026 in Kathua and Samba district, where he directed the officers to ensure foolproof security and smooth movement of pilgrims.
Accompanied by DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range Shridhar Patil, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma, SSP Kathua Mohita Sahrma and other senior officers, the IGP Jammu inspected the yatra base camp, langar points, lodgment centres and reception centres at Lakhanpur.
He also reviewed security deployment, CCTV coverage, access control measures, frisking arrangements, traffic management and facilities for pilgrims.
During separate security review meetings held in Kathua and Samba, officers were briefed on surveillance measures, convoy management, deployment of Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and emergency response plans.
The IGP stressed maximum alertness, strict adherence to security protocols and professional conduct with pilgrims, while directing close coordination among J&K Police, CAPFs, intelligence agencies and Punjab Police for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
The officers were instructed to intensify drone surveillance, deploy dog squads for anti-sabotage checks and strengthen security along the National Highway and border areas through round-the-clock domination, naka checking and patrolling.
Directions were also issued to expedite tenant verification and census drives and enhance CCTV coverage with 24×7 monitoring at all important Yatra locations.
