JAMMU, Mar 20: Maintaining that agenda of alliance between PDP and BJP was sacred and above all, BJP today said that in case PDP opts out of alliance, the Party can explore other options for Government formation in the State.
“The people of the State have given a mandate for six years and we don’t want fresh elections and in case PDP opts out of alliance BJP can explore other options”, fire brand BJP leader and party MLA from Nowshera Ravinder Raina told reporters along with Party MLA from Akhnoor Rajesh Sharma here today.
Ruling out holding of fresh election in the State Raina said same is not economically viable and the people of State can’t afford such a heavy burden.
He made it clear that Party senior leadership has already said that any more conditions put by the PDP will not be acceptable and announced that in case the alliance partner continues delaying tactics the options for BJP regarding formation of Government in the State are open.
Mr Raina who termed the fresh conditions put by PDP chief totally ridiculous said PDP this way was trying to create a unnecessary controversy.
He said the coalition led by former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed was running smoothly in the State and unfortunately the Governor rule was imposed after the sudden demise of Mufti Sayeed. The PDP has to make a beginning for Government formation in the State as there is no delay from BJP side, he added.
Raina said “we should work for solution of problems of the people for which the two parties were given the mandate instead of shirking the responsibility”.
He said for smooth running of coalition the two parties should respect each other and BJP while strictly adhering to coalition drama did not allow any controversy to come to fore.
While forming the agenda of alliance Raina said BJP had kept many issues pertaining to the interests of the people of the State in it and certain points concerning people of Valley were kept by PDP also. The BJP for smooth running of coalition agreed to keep its core issues like Abrogation of Article 370 and Ek Vidhan Ek Prdhan etc away from the agenda, he added.
He said there were many issues of BJP which were part of agenda but no progress was made on them during the last 10 months of coalition rule. “But for the same we have not come out with statements as 10 months is not a sufficient period in which agenda of alliance could be realized”, he added.
He said among the main issues which were in the agenda included delimitation of constituencies in Jammu as the region has more area and population than Kashmir, settlement of PoJK refugees and grant of rights to West Pak refugees, rehabilitation of migrants and other militancy victims from Kashmir Valley and Jammu region, grant of rights to SCs and STs at par with other states of the country and giving a corruption free Government to people.
He said BJP too has 28 legislators including two pre poll alliance partners and PDP also has the same number. Even BJP legislators are also demanding rotational CM during left over five years, he added.
