IED recovered from Srinagar

Srinagar, July 18: Police today recovered 6 kg of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) material on National Highway from a person in Srinagar.
A police spokesman said that Srinagar police on technical inputs arrested one person – Zahid Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Aaziz Mir, resident of Aripanath Beerwah Budgam.
The spokesman said that during examination he disclosed having hidden IED material and led a police team to the recovery of P3 type explosive material weighing 6 kg, one Electric detonator and around 500 grams of ball bearings and nails. “These ball bearings and nails were to be used as projectiles/ shrapnels during blast,” the spokesman said.
The police spokesman stated that the explosive substance was recovered near Sham Lal petrol pump on National Highway. The explosive substance recovered was meant for the manufacture of IEDs, so as to target the security forces deployed on the National Highway.
A case (FIR No 99/2022) has been registered at Batmaloo PS u/s 13, 23, 38, 39 of UAPA and 3/5 of Explosive Substances Act.
