Idols installed at Radha-Krishan temple

JAMMU, Apr 30: Priya Sethi, MLA, and Yudhvir Sethi vice president (BJP) Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), joined by devotees and management of Pacci Dhakki Welfare Committee today installed statues of Radha and Krishan, Kali Mata, Lakshmi Narayan, Jalfa Mata, Ganesh ji and Maa Saraswati at the historic Radha-Krishna temple located in Pacci Dhakki area of Jammu City.
The installation ceremony (Murti Sthapana) was conducted amid chanting of shalokas and reciting of bhajans by the head priests and devotees. The entire area was wearing a festive look with temple decorated with flowers and buntings.
Speaking after Murti Sthapana, Priya Sethi said that the freshly renovated temple with new statues was giving devotees several reasons to celebrate and they were looking forward to celebrate festival of Janmashtami here in a big way.
Devotees in large number had gathered to take part in the ceremony which was held after Bhandara. Earlier, a Kalash Yatra was also taken out by the devotees which after passing through main bazars of old city culminated at the temple where statues of Gods and Goddesses were installed.
Speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi said this is second such temple after Mathura where statues of Krishna and his wife are installed for worship. The temple also possesses historic value and is visited by thousands of devotees.
The BJP leader said that it’s because of efforts of local population that bushes, grass and shrubs around the temple were removed and its lost glory was restored.
Others who graced the occasion, included Seema Dogra, Parsino Devi, Usha Sharma, Pawan Kumar, Sunny Dogra, Sanjay Kumar, Dharampal and others.
