KARGIL, Jan 21: Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz inaugurated a 15-day Ice Hockey Training-cum-Tournament for girls in Kargil today, with around 50 participants.
The programme is organized under Mission Shakti, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme by the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Department of Social & Tribal Welfare, in collaboration with the District Youth Services & Sports Office and Ice Hockey Association Kargil.
Kacho Feroz lauded the initiative, emphasizing equal opportunities for girls in Kargil and assured continued support from Hill Council. Director Social & Tribal Welfare, Tashi Dolma, highlighted the importance of sports alongside academics and expressed hope that the training would produce skilled players to represent UT Ladakh nationally and internationally.
District Programme Officer, ICDS, Nargis Banoo, appreciated the efforts and support from the Youth Services & Sports Office. The programme was hosted by Gender Specialist Amina Banoo and attended by Child Development Project Officers and other officials.
