JAMMU, June 30: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, presented a unique programme ‘Music of the Hills’ here this evening at the auditorium of Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni.
The programme featured a heart rendering soulful instrumental music fusion of ‘Santoor’ and ‘Flute’ in an outstanding manner by the two celebrity musicians of the city, Rakesh Anand and Ravi Sharma.
RC Puri, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, was the chief guest on the occasion.
The evening started with ‘Mata Satuti’ followed by their solo presentations which further progressed with duets through their respective instrumental excellence. Their programme reminded of the great times of Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma and Hari Prasad Charusia when the duo rendered immortal music to many blockbuster Bollywood movies. Their soulful renderings are hummed by generations till date.
Both Ravi Sharma and Rakesh Anand demonstrated their supremacy over their respective instruments and wonderfully transported the entire audiences to the upper reaches of the hills of J&K. Sahil Jasotra through his mastery over rhythm complimented the entire levels of this instrumental music evening.
Earlier, welcoming the gathering of music lovers, Regional Director of ICCR, Jammu & Kashmir, Balwant Thakur, presented a brief about the concept behind this unique musical evening.
The programme was ably anchored by Vrinda Sharma and Mahikshit Singh Langeh and Ajay Sharma coordinated the entire event. Prominent among those who attended the programme included Vidya Rattan Aasi, SS Sambyal, Jangs S Verman, Suresh Sharma, Chander Shekhar, Subash Jamwal and Kamal Singh.
