JAMMU, Nov 3: The International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu,  today organized a National Business Plan Competition, in collaboration with Jammu Chapter National HRD Network.
The competition was organized with the aim of bringing together management students to exchange ideas and put entrepreneurial principles into practice with an integrative learning approach.
The competition was spread across Post Graduate and Graduate level from  which the select 24 teams presented their innovative business plans. Around 200 students participated and jointly deliberated diverse perspectives along dimensions as contemporary relevance, context, market feasibility and the like.
In all, over 50 proposals were received out of which only 24 were finally screened for presentation. The select participating institutions comprised of ARNI University, Himachal Pradesh, SHTM JU, SMVDU, CUJ Himachal Pradesh, MIET  Jammu,  Management School, Kathua Campus, The Business School, JU, Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, ICccR & HRM, JU, Department of Commerce, JU, CUJ (Tourism Department), SKUAST Jammu, Islamic University Kashmir, MCM DAV College, Chandigarh, SMVDU (Economics Department), GDC  Kathua,  SPMR College of Commerce  Jammu, GCW Gandhinagar, Sri Sai Group of Institutions, Amritsar, and others.
The competition was duly held in the presence of the judges from the Corporate who included  Annil Suri, vice president, Jammu Chapter NHRDN;  Manish Loomba, Head Sales and Marketing, Radikal Foods Ltd., New Delhi;  Imran Ahmad, Circle Head Operations, Ericsson Jammu and Kashmir; Jyotsna Fotedar, Project Head Consultants Thailand, Malasiya, India and Singapore. The business plans were judged on several parameters like Innovation, Creativity, Market Relevance, Financial Planning and Profitability.
Among 24 participating teams, ICccR & HRM  JU,  bagged 1st position in competition for Business Plan: ‘Cloris Extractors Pvt. Ltd.’  The Business School, JU, bagged 2nd position for the Business Plan: ‘Living Sports’. 3rd position was shared by Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar for the Business Plan: ‘Verto Radio Station’ and SHTM JU for the Business Plan: ‘Gravity- Attracting Everyone’ respectively.
Two prizes as Special Appreciation were presented at UG level.  Central University of Jammu (Tourism Department) bagged the 1st position for proposal ‘Autra Convenient and Sastr Travel’ and MCM, DAV College, Chandigarh grabbed the 2nd position for Proposal ; ‘Event Planning’respectively. The 3rd position at UG level was bagged by Govt SPMR College Commerce for the Business Proposal: ‘Sensation 4 U Pvt. Ltd.’.
Closing ceremony of the event was held in the evening, wherein Vice Chancellor, JU,  Professor R D  Sharma appreciated the quality and the standard with which the event was organised.
Raj K  Nehru, Associate Director, CONCENTRIX, Gurgaon, who was the special corporate guest on the occasion,  said that for creating concrete business strategies, an integrated approach is required that is summation of analytics, information, analysis and cognitive skills.
Earlier, Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Director, ICccR & HRM, president, Jammu Chapter National HRD Network and  the programme convener, spoke on the occasion and reflected upon the mission of the International Centre  ‘developing people with ultimate flexibility,’ as an endeavour to transform young minds with latent potentialities. She corroborated upon the need for organizing such like forums to bring together students from diverse perspectives to create a common platform to polish attitudes, mindsets and vision.
Prof Keshav Sharma, Dean Business Studies and Registrar, JU, congratulated ICccR & HRM for organizing an event which is first of its kind in terms of its objective to bring together participants from across India to deliberate upon business planning and strategizing issues.
Dr Anil Gupta, Joint Secretary Jammu Chapter, National HRD Network presented the formal vote of thanks.
Dr  Amrinder Singh acted as organising secretary for the event, Dr  Pallvi Arora,  Isha Sharma, Dr  Ridhi Sharma, Dr Shafquat Ajaz and Dr  Dalip Raina, faculty at ICccR & HRM coordinated the event. The student organising team included Samarth Gupta, Raghav Gupta, Shantanu Jamwal, Anjali Gupta, Urvashi Sharma, Simrandeep Singh, Sidhant Randhawa, Anuraag Bharat, Mansi Mahajan and Geetika Dharwat from MBA-IB 1st and 3rd Semesters.
The Placement Brochure of MBA: International Business (MBA-IB) was also released   on the occasion and certificates were distributed to the faculty participants of 5-Day ICT based Faculty Development Programme which was organised by ICccR & HRM In collaboration with National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chandigarh recently.
