JAMMU, July 1: The J&K Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), celebrated its 65th CA Foundation Day today.
On the occasion the branch organized various activities such as blood donation camp, plantation drive, relief to underprivileged, tax awareness program, etc.
A large number of Chartered Accountants and CA students participated overwhelmingly and donated blood at GMC Jammu.
The blood donation camp was followed by flag hoisting ceremony at the branch building and later on plantation drive and relief to underprivileged was undertaken at SOS Children Village, Channi Rama.
A get together was also organized wherein apart from holding cultural activities, senior members and newly qualified CAs of the branch were felicitated by Shantmanu, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, who was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Shantmanu congratulated the CA fraternity and appreciated their role in the field of auditing, taxation, financial advisory, etc. He also invited the CA fraternity to give presentation in regard to various areas of the State where their services can be utilized.
Earlier, in his inaugural address, CA Vikram Garg, chairman, J&K Branch welcomed the guests and emphasized on the importance of the CA Day. He said that Chartered Accountants are partners in nation building and they play an important role in discharging their advisory function which is immensely banked upon by their clientele.
Meanwhile, J&K Branch also awarded “CA RC Gupta Memorial award”, “Tilak Raj Malhotra Memorial Award”, “Sudesh Sawhney Memorial Award” and “CA Omesh Gupta Memorial Award” to the meritorious students of CA Final Examination during 2013. Special Awards were also presented to CA Suhel Gupta and CA Manisha Gupta, who got 31st and 34th rank, respectively all over India in CA Final Examination.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by CA Shalay Razdan, secretary J&K Branch of ICAI.
