JAMMU, Sept 23: Additional Sessions Judge Jammu has denied anticipatory bail to a man and his three other family members, who have been booked for subjecting woman to cruelty.
As per the police case, Tamandeep Singh, son of Manjeet Singh of Upper Beli Charana, his mother Balvinder Kour, cousin Jatinder Singh Raina and his wife Sarpreet Kour Raina were booked for commission of offences under Section 498-A, 323, 504 and 506/109 RPC.
They were booked on the basis of a complaint filed by Harneet Kour, wife of Tamandeep Singh alleging therein that she was being subjected to cruelty by the accused persons on different pretext.
Apprehending their arrest in the case, they moved two different anticipatory bail applications before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Jammu S L Lalhal. The contentions in the applications were challenged by Advocate J S Johal, who was appearing for the complainant and Additional Public Prosecutor for the State.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “there are heinous allegations of torturing and beating against the applicants/accused persons and the investigation in the case is at initial stage”, adding “if the applicants are admitted to anticipatory bail at this stage they may win over or terrorize the prosecution witnesses thereby scuttle the fair and impartial investigation of the case”.
With these observations, the court dismissed the applications seeking anticipatory bail.
