JAMMU, Dec 25: Police today rescued a hunter from snow found Urad Baggi Top in higher reaches of Doda district, where he had been trapped for the past five days. He has been identified as Afzal Ali Beig son of Ghulam Ali Beig, a resident of Udhyanpur, Doda.
SSP Doda Mohammad Sharief Chouhan said Beig along with his associates had gone for hunting in Urad Baggi Top near Chound Mata Dhar in Doda district five days back. While hunting, he got separated from his associates and was trapped in snowfall.
As other associates of Beig returned, the family of missing hunter lodged a report with Doda police station, which swung into action. Police also utilised services of a helicopter.
Finally, the ground teams of police, security personnel and local people succeeded in rescuing the hunter from a natural cave, where he had taken shelter to survive from snowfall.
He was brought to home safely this evening, Mr Chouhan said.
