SRINAGAR, June 15: Wildlife officials have launched a massive hunt in the Boniyar area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district to trap or kill a leopard that has been labelled a man-eater after mauling a ten-year-old girl on Tuesday.
Authorities declared the leopard a man-eater after the killing and dispatched teams to capture or kill it. To kill the leopard, wildlife officials have set traps near Boniyar and put shooters in vulnerable areas. To track down and exterminate the man-eating beast, the wildlife department has sought the support of the Forest Protection Force, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and local hunters.
The wild animal has killed at least three children in the neighbourhood in the last few days.
