SRINAGAR, Jan 12: Hundreds of employees of Department of Health Services Kashmir from across the Valley today protested against Government at Directorate office for not releasing salary to its employees.
The salary to around 15, 000 employees of the Health Department was stopped after a major illegal employment scam was established in the department by Directorate of Audit and Inspection Jammu and Kashmir.
The Audit report established 2222 employments were made in the department illegally since 1990. And the Finance Department asked the Health Department to release salary to the genuine employees of the Health Department only but the department stopped salary of the entire department.
The employees while rejecting the Audit report said that all these employments have been made by the competent authorities and demanded release of salary to all the employees including those listed as illegal by the Audit report.
The employee leaders said that majority of these employees have even got departmental promotions and regularised by virtue of State Cabinet orders from time to time.
The employees have threatened to intensify agitation if pay is not released to these employees or Government takes any action against them.
Speaking on the occasion, the vice president of the Health Employees Coordination Committee Khurshid Ahmad Bhat said that the issue has been taken up with the higher-ups of the Government.
