Huge quantity of timber recovered, 2 smugglers arrested

KISHTWAR, Jan 14: Chatroo police recovered huge quantity of valuable timber comprising deodar and qail from various places in Chatroo belt and arrested two smugglers.
As per police spokesman, acting on specific information of loot and smuggle of timber from the forests, police constituted various teams and raided different areas in Chatroo belt.
During the raids, police recovered 35 full size illegal scants of deodar and 15 scants of qail from Drakian Gali Chatroo from the possession of two persons identified as Roshan Lal, son of Dewan Chand of Drakian Gali and arrested him.
A case under FIR Number 2/18 under Section 379 and 109 RPC and 6 Forest Act has been registered at Police Station Chatroo and investigation started.
Meanwhile, in another raid in Udheel Gujjarian area, police recovered 15 full size scants of deodar from the possession of Arshad Ahmed, son of Peer Baksh, a resident of Udheel Gujjrian, tehsil Chatroo and arrested him.
A case under FIR Numbers 2/18 and 3/18 under Sections 379 and 109 RPC and 6 Forest Act have been registered at Police Station Chatroo and investigation started.
The arrests were made by SHO Chatroo Inspector Mohammad Bashir and assisted by ASI Paras Ram under the supervision of SSP Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary.
