SRINAGAR, Dec 14: The newly appointed Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Jeet Lal Gupta conducted a field visit to various areas of the Srinagar city in order to check the services made available by Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to the city residents.
Media Relations Officer, SMC, Masrat Yousuf said that the visit was carried on the directions of Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand. He said that Commissioner SMC, Dr. G N Qasba accompanied Gupta during the visit.
“Mr. Gupta visited landfilling dumping site of SMC at Achan where he was briefed about the various modern and new technologies to be adopted for decomposition of garbage and other waste-material in a scientific manner. During his visit to Leper Colony Bahrar and Tibetan colony, Eidgah, he was apprised about the work progress related to the implementation of Centrally sponsored schemes under BSUP (Basic Service to Urban Poor),” said Masrat.
On spot instructions were issued to the concerned officials to complete the projects immediately for early rehabilitation of the lepers of Bahrar and the Tibetans of Eidgah. Tara Chand had thoroughly reviewed developmental programs /projects in a meeting conducted with the officials of the various departments including SMC, NBCC, LAWDA and UEED.
During the meeting Tara Chand had emphasized on the various newly framed acts such as public disclosure act which has to be regulated and implemented by all the departments concerning Housing and Urban Development Department.
