JAMMU, May 21: Chairman, Health and Sanitation Committee (HSC) of Jammu Municipal Corporation, Raj Kumar Tarkhaan today conducted an intensive tour of Ware House – Nehru Market to take stock of the sanitary conditions there.
He was accompanied by Amit Gupta (Corporator, Ward number 19), Rahul Gupta (Corporator, Ward number 20) and other field staff of JMC. During the tour, Raj Kumar also met with office bearers of Traders Federation Ware House-Nehru Market.
Federation president Deepak Gupta while talking to HSC Chairman expressed his displeasure over the deteriorating condition of drains and deep drains in the biggest wholesale grain market of Jammu and said that the traders have to bear heavy losses during every rainy season because of water logging in their shops.
Demanding the construction of new toilets in Mandi, Deepak Gupta said that this demand is also pending for a long time and despite repeated requests, toilets are not being constructed. Deepak Gupta said that the work of river front is going on in the Tawi river under the Smart City Project, in such a situation, the fate of deep drains going into Tawi river should also be clear.
Assuring that the issues raised by Deepak Gupta will be resolved on priority, Raj Kumar said that from Sunday itself, the work of cleaning the drains and deep drains will be started in the Mandi and all the drains and deep drains will be cleaned before the start of monsoon. He said along with this, the work of repair of drains and deep drains will also be completed before the rainy season. Raj Kumar also assured to start construction of toilets in Mandi soon.
Other Federation leaders including Munish Mahajan (senior vice president), Abhimanyu Gupta (vice president), Sham Lal Langer (general secretary) and Vishal Gupta (secretary) were also present on the occasion.
