JAMMU, Jan 9: Himalayan People’s Forum (HPF) held a meeting under the chairmanship of Istkhar Ali Khan.
While speaking, Khan stated that Manjakote is a border area having population of more than 70,000 people. There is no road connectivity, electricity, education facilities, health facilities and other basic facilities required for the people, he added.
In others areas of the State, tehsil status has been to the areas with lesser population but the Government has not given tehsil status to Manjakote despite being densely populated.
He demanded creation of new Sub Division at Thannamandi, tehsil at Majakote, creation of Niabat at Gambhir Mughala and Doongi, CD Block at Mangalnar (Dansar) and more patwar halqas and revenue villages in Manjakote.
Khan urged the Chief Minister and Cabinet Sub Committee to create the aforesaid administrative units in the neglected area, so that people of the area may not suffer anymore.
Among others present were Arshad Parvez Malik, Mohammad Yaqoob, Mohammad Afsar, Mohammad Shafiq, Mohammad Shakoor and Sanjay Sharma.
