JAMMU, Apr 28: A housewife allegedly tried to end her life by immolating herself in Nanak Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station.
As per police sources, Paramjeet Kour, wife of Taranjeet Singh, a resident of Sector 13, Nanak Nagar set herself ablaze by pouring some inflammable substance.
Family members rushed to her rescue, doused the flames and shifted her to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), with 90 per cent burn injuries. The woman was undergoing treatment, when last reports came in.
In the incident, the woman’s husband also received minor injuries and was also hospitalized.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at police station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started to ascertain the reason behind such extreme step.
