House of former MoS damaged in fire

JAMMU, Nov 15: House of former MoS, five shops, a car and other items were damaged in fire in Ramban, Jammu, Kishtwar and Udhampur districts.
As per police sources, the residential house of former MoS and Vice President of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, Ajaz Ahmed gutted in a massive blaze in Gool area of District Ramban today evening.
The two-storey house got engulfed in fire flames and reduced to ashes.
The property worth lakhs of rupees reduced to ashes while no loss of life or injury took place during the incident.
Gool Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
Meanwhile, fire broke out in a fruits shop at Daljeet Chowk, which later spread to adjoining shops.
On getting information, a team from RS Pura Police Station led by SHO Inspector Jai Pal Sharma rushed to the spot.
Fire fighters along with tenders from RS Pura Fire Station also reached the spot and extinguished the fire, but the material kept in the shops got completely damaged in the ablaze.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet.
When contacted SHO RS Pura Inspector Jai Pal Sharma told the EXCELSIOR that in the ablaze 5 shops including 2 fruits, 1 general store, 1 electronic items and 1 readymade shops were damaged.
It took around 3 to 4 hours to extinguish the fire, he said, adding that losses are yet to be ascertained in the ablaze.
Meanwhile, fire broke out in Eco car bearing registration number JK17-4624 under mysterious circumstances near Om Mehta road.
On getting information, police team along with fire fighter and tenders reached the spot and started operation to douse the flames. Army personnel and Red Cross volunteers also reached the spot and assisted in the fire fighting operation.
After hectic efforts, the fire was brought under control, but till than the car was completely gutted in ablaze.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet.
Kishtwar Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
However, fire broke out atop two wheeler showroom at Shiv Nagar area of Udhampur.
After more than hour long hectic efforts, the fire was brought under control. In the fire, discarded furniture and scrap kept on the rooftop of the showroom were damaged. SSP Udhampur Sargun Shukla supervised the operation.
Cognizance in this regard has been taken by Udhampur Police.
