JAMMU, Nov 23: On the request of Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra (HRAK) & PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHDCCI), Jammu Region, Secretary Public Health Engineering (PHE) Irrigation & Flood Control Farooq Ahmed Shah convened a meeting with them at Katra.
In the meeting, Chief Engineer PHE Jammu Ashok Gandotra, Superintending Engineer, Executive Engineers & officers of PHE Department were also present. Detailed discussions were held with regard to the shortage of water at Katra and especially to the hoteliers and to other issues related to the Department of Flood Control etc.
While speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Wazir, president HRAK and Co-Chairman PHDCCI Jammu Region, said that time has come that hotels at Katra should have a separate commercial un-interrupted water supply line so that Yatries coming from each and every nook and corner of India do not find any problem. He even requested for making of more water lifting points around Katra besides from Jhajjar because particularly in summer the hotels even find problem in getting water through tankers from a single source.
Wazir said that Katra is a place where more than one crore pilgrims and tourists visit from every nook and corner of India and whatever impression and image a pilgrim carries home, in fact becomes the image of the State. And even otherwise Katra is the feeding point to whole State as for as Tourists are concerned and if the first impression is good, more tourists would like to visit other parts of the State as well, he added.
Chairman HRAK Shyam Lal Kesar said that neat and clean water is the basic need and it becomes even more important if so many people from India and abroad are visiting to a particular place in the shape of pilgrims who are in fact are the guests of the State. Farooq Shah listened to each and every point patiently and assured that sympathetic consideration would be given to all the issues, especially to the un-interrupted separate water supply line to the hoteliers.
The meeting among others was attended by Katra head PHDCCI, Virender Kesar, Ashwani Kumar, Vivek Sharma, Nishant Sharma, Ajay Kotwal and Sumit Khajuria.
