JAMMU, Apr 22:   A deputation of All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association lead by its president Inderjeet Khajuria called on the  Minister for Environment, Forests and Social Welfare, Bali Bhagat here today.
In presence of  Chairman of State Pollution Control Board the delegation  apprised the Minister about the problems being faced by the Jammu hoteliers in view of closure of business operation and sealing of all rooms exceeding 19 in every Hotel by the State Pollution Control Board in default of  installation of Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) in the hotels.
Inderjeet Khajuria apprised the Minister about a letter issued by Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Jammu addressed to the President All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association Jammu under his No MJ/Estt/1514-15 dated 9-6-2014 wherein the Commissioner stands committed to connect all the Hotels of old Jammu city for sewage disposal and treatment in the common STP at Bhagwati Nagar likely to be commissioned ending this financial year.
Narrating the set back to the economy of tourism related Jammu traders due to various reasons, which is already on ventilator, Mr Khajuria said that if the Government does not adopt serious approach in this concern then the tourism related trade in Jammu would worsen further.  He requested the Minister for a permanent solution to the STP problem as the hoteliers are not in a position to suffer any more losses on account of sealing of rooms by the SPCB as providing sewerage connections is the responsibility of the Government.
The Minister listened to the problems patiently and assured the deputation a permanent solution for the mitigation of the problem.
The deputation comprised of  Pawan Gupta, Baldev Raj, Harbans Singh, Rajesh Gupta, Vinod Jandiyal, ML Sharma, Gurdarshan Singh, Varinder Gupta and Amjad Afridi.
