Hotelier held for not giving info of foreign guest

RAMBAN, Mar 22: Banihal police arrested a hotelier for allegedly flouting Government order by not providing information about a British guest.
As per police sources, a hotel owner identified as Ajaz Ahmad, son of Ghulam Hassan Naik, a resident of Kaskoot Tehsil Banihal was arrested for not providing information about foreign national namely Richard, son of Derrick Trevor of British.
The foreign national stayed at Chinar Hotel near Railway Station Banihal during intervening night of March 19 and 20, sources said, adding that Ajaz Ahmad, who is owner of Chinar Hotel, has been arrested for not providing information about the foreigner.
A case under FIR Number 48/2020 under Section 188 IPC has been registered against hotelier at Police Station Banihal and investigation has been taken up, sources informed.
The British national was supposed to visit Kashmir, where the entry of foreign nationals was banned by the administration on March 17 as part of efforts to check the spread of Coronavirus, sources said, adding that the foreigner was noticed by some policemen while he was on his way to the Banihal Railway Station to take a train to Kashmir. Subsequently, the British national was detained and taken to District Hospital Ramban for screening viz check up and later shifted to Jammu.
Ramban District Magistrate had issued an order on March 17, directing all hotels to provide information about their guests, especially foreigners to police.
On March 19, the authorities also suspended the train service between Banihal and Baramulla in Kashmir valley till March 31 as a precautionary measure.
