Hospital staff protests, go on strike

MENDHAR, Jan 6: The  staff of Sub District Hospital, Mendhar went on strike for few hours today in protest against the alleged harassment in view of  protest by the relatives and family members of the woman who died due to excessive bleeding after delivery of a male baby in hospital.
The doctors and other paramedical staff of the hospital struck work in the morning at around 10 AM and came out to lodge their protest against the alleged harassment.  The patients in the hospital suffered due to suspension of work by the staff members. They alleged that due to local politics, the staff is being targeted.
Later, the CMO Poonch, Mumtaz Bhatti on the directions of DC Poonch reached at Mendhar hospital at around 1.30 pm and he pacified the staff on strike. Some of them had already resumed work. Later, a meeting was held in the complex which was also attended by BMO and some locals of the area. The staff then resumed work.  The District Administration has already ordered an inquiry into the death of 19-year-old woman due to alleged negligence of some staff members.
