Srinagar, Feb 16: The Horticulture Graduates who are on protest seeking recruitment policy and an overall reorganization of the horticulture have temporarily suspended their protest after assurance from the acting Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir.
The scores of graduates were on the protest from Monday and had blocked the entrances of the SKUAST-K Shalimar to press for the addressal of their issues and had decided to keep the strike on indefinitely. They had even continued their protest overnight.
However, today, the acting Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary called up the representatives of the protestors and asked to temporarily suspend the protest.
“We met him and he asked us to give him 6 days and that he will take up the issue with the concerned authorities; till then we are temporarily suspending the protest,” the representatives of the Horticulture Graduates told Excelsior.
At the same time, they maintained that they won’t be leaving the venue of protest, but will open up the entrance for the time which has been sought from them.
Pertinent to mention here that the Horticulture Graduates are demanding a job policy for the scores of unemployed graduates including those who have done their doctorates in the Horticulture but have got nowhere to go.
