JAMMU, Mar 4: Department of Horticulture here today organized a one-day awareness-cum-interaction programme with special emphasis on plantation schemes, at a village in Bishnah.
The programme was coordinated by BJP Mahila Morcha J&K chief spokesperson, Ritika Trehan. Prominent among those present on the occasion were Anju Bhat, Scientist of Bosch University; Dheeraj, Horticulture Development Officer; DDC Bishnah, Darminder Kumar; Panch, Suman; Naib Sarpanch, Ashwani and Naib, Jagdev Singh.
The programme was managed by Praveen Kumari.
The event witnessed active participation from farmers across the district and they showed keen interest in adopting modern agricultural practices to enhance their farming capabilities.
Participants were provided with informative pamphlets, booklets and educational resources containing valuable guidelines and best practices for sustainable agriculture.
Ritika Trehan informed the farmers about plantation schemes available and guided them to apply for availing incentives available through online portals like Jansugam (jansugam.jk.gov.in) and HADP (hadp.jk.gov.in).
She asked them to avail incentive available on establishment of Custom Hiring Centres and Farm Machinery Banks under centrally sponsored scheme SMAM for employment generation and earning good income.
Anju Bhat, Scientist educated farmers about various departmental schemes presently under implementation in the district with special emphasis on Revised Modified High Density Plantation Scheme, Holistic Agriculture Development Program, CAPEX and SMAM.
The Horticulture Development Officer briefed the participants about fruit plants cultivation and impressed upon them to adopt its cultivation as they are highly remunerative cash crops.
