AKHNOOR, Jan 21: Department of Horticulture here today organised an awareness camp at SDM office Chowki Chaura to aware the local PRIs of the Sub-Division along with locals there about various schemes.
The camp was attended by SDM Chowki Choura, Varinder Gupta; Tehsildar Chowki Choura, Raman Jandyal and Rahul Dev Sharma, Chairman Block Development Council (BDC).
Nearly all the Sarpanches along with Panches of the Sub-Division attended the programme.
The camp was held to aware the PRIs of various schemes of Horticulture Department so that they can motivate the people in their respective areas to take benefit of these.
Speaking on the occasion, SDM Chowki Choura and Chairman BDC appreciated the efforts of Horticulture Department for holding such awareness camps for farmers.
The SDM exhorted upon PRIs to sensitize local populace to avail maximum benefits of the on-going Central and UT sponsored schemes of the department.
He urged upon the Department of Horticulture to conduct more such camps in the area for the economic upliftment of farming community.
Horticulture Development Officer Akhnoor, Varinder Kr. Parashar stressed that farmers’ welfare is the core agenda of the Department of Horticulture and he will ensure that all workable reforms and departmental schemes should reach every targeted section in a hassle free manner.
He also sought suggestions from the PRIs for better percolation of departmental efforts in an effective manner.
Sanjay Khajuria HTG from Department of Horticulture was also present in the camp.
