Hooda hoists ‘Tiranga’ at monumental flag pole

JAMMU, July 1: The National Flag measuring 30 ft x 20 ft on a 100 ft mast, atop a prominent hill feature within Udhampur Cantonment was today hoisted by Lt Gen DS Hooda, GOC-in-C, Northern Command of Army.
While hoisting the flag, Hooda said, “Tiranga is a powerful symbol of our struggle for independence and national unity. It has also been a source of inspiration for countless Indians”.
The flag fluttering at a vantage point is visible from a distance not only to garrison troops but also to the civilian population and the tourists passing through the station as Udhampur is the gateway to the Kashmir valley.
The view of National Flag from a distance is bound to instill a sense of pride and confidence amongst all. The flag stands illuminated at night befitting the glory and prestige associated with the symbol.
