Sir,
I wish to highlight a long-overdue gesture of recognition that holds both historical and emotional value for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Maharaja Hari Singh, the visionary who founded the Jammu and Kashmir Bank in 1938, laid the financial foundation of the region with the intent to empower local enterprise and economic self-reliance. He not only conceptualized the institution but personally made its first deposit, marking a moment of profound trust and foresight.
Despite this, his contribution remains visibly absent from the very institution he created-no portrait, no public acknowledgment at the Corporate Headquarters or key branches. This omission, while perhaps unintentional, has been a source of public disappointment, echoed by citizens and employees alike.
This is not a call for symbolism alone-it is a respectful reminder of the importance of institutional memory. Recognizing Maharaja Hari Singh is not just about honoring the past; it is about preserving the spirit of service and vision that built the bank.
I sincerely urge the J&K Bank Chairman to consider displaying a photo of the founder, Maharaja Hari Singh, as a token of gratitude, history, and inspiration for future generations in the Corporate Office as well as in every branch of Jammu Kashmir Bank.
Mahadeep Singh Jamwal
