Balochistan’s struggle deserves regional attention

Sir,
Rakesh Kumar Sharma’s article “Balochistan’s Quest for Identity and Independence” (May 29) sheds vital light on a long-ignored struggle.
The forcible annexation of Kalat in 1948 and the continuous marginalization of Balochistan highlight serious historical and human rights injustices. Despite its vast resources, the region suffers from poverty and repression, with repeated insurgencies pointing to deep-rooted discontent. India, as a regional power and a consistent victim of cross-border terrorism, must reassess its policy of silence.
Offering moral and diplomatic support to the Baloch cause is not just a humanitarian responsibility but also a strategic imperative in countering Pakistani and Chinese aggression. A stable and autonomous Balochistan could reshape South Asia’s geopolitical landscape in India’s favor.
It is time to stand with the oppressed and uphold democratic values across borders.
