Honda to recall over 700,000 vehicles

Beijing, May 30: GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda, two joint ventures of Honda, will recall 774,774 vehicles in the Chinese market, according to China’s top quality watchdog.

The recall, set to begin on June 1, will involve automobiles manufactured between July 1 and Dec. 31, 2018, said an online statement by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

In breakdown, GAC Honda will recall 396,149 vehicles including Acura TLX-L, Acura CDX and Acura RDX.

Meanwhile, the recall of Dongfeng Honda will involve 378,625 vehicles including models of Greiz, Gienia, Civic and Spirior.

As the pump core impellers of the affected vehicles were made of low-density materials, the fuel pumps may not work normally. In extreme cases, the engines may stall while the vehicles are running, posing safety hazards.

The automaker promised to replace the defective parts of the recalled vehicles free of charge, according to the statement.
