Homage paid to Brig Rajinder Singh on 119th birth anniversary

JAMMU, June 14: On 119th birth anniversary of Brigadier Rajinder Singh, a function was organized by the district administration at his native place, village Rajinder Pura (Bagoona), in Samba district.
MLA Vijaypur, Chander Parkash Ganga, was the chief guest on the occasion. Paying homage to Brig Rajinder Singh, the MLA recalled his bravery and sacrifice. He exhorted upon the youth to remember the martyrs and imbibe the qualities of bravery and valour. He also asked people to preserve Dogra pride and heritage.
DC Samba, Rajinder Singh Tara, while speaking on the occasion, said that they are proud that such a great warrior was born in their State. He also threw light on the life of martyr Brig Rajinder Singh. ADC Samba, PO ICDS Samba, ASP Samba, ACD Samba, SDM Vijaypur, XEns PHE, PWD & PDD, BDO Vijaypur, Ravi Kant from Radio Kashmir Jammu, Maj General (Retd) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal and daughters of Brig Rajinder Singh were also present on the occasion.
A cultural programme was presented by the children of Brig Rajinder Singh Memorial Fauji Public School and GHS Rajinder Pura on the occasion. Dogri songs highlighting the bravery of Brig Rajinder Singh were presented by Songs and Drama Division of Union Ministry of Information.
Meanwhile, remembering the ‘Savior of Kashmir’, Brig Rajinder Singh, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee paid rich tributes to him. In a statement issued here, JKPCC chief, GA Mir, said that the supreme sacrifice of Brigadier Rajinder Singh can’t be forgotten for all times to come, as he saved Kashmir by halting the march of Pakistan Army regulars and raiders for four days, which was the most crucial period and ultimately the Indian Army landed in Kashmir. “The entire rank and file of the party pay rich tributes to this great son of our State”, he added.
Yuva Rajput Sabha also observed with great enthusiasm the birth anniversary of Brigadier Rajinder Singh, here today. In this connection, a function was held at the chowk of Brigadier Rajinder Singh where members of Yuva Rajput Sabha garlanded the statue of Bri. Rajinder Singh amidst raising of slogans. Sweets were also distributed to children’s and the public during the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajveer Singh, president, Yuva Rajput Sabha, said that it is because of Brig Rajinder Singh’s supreme sacrifice that J&K was able to successfully crush the invaders from Pakistan in 1947.
