Gandotra said that due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in J&K Union Territory the Government had decided to cut short the Yatra period to three days only, a decision that was accordingly followed by the Trust.
“The 10-day-long Yatra had been cut short to three days with only Chhari (Holy Mace) to be allowed from the traditional Hayan route. The Charri Mubarak of Holy Kailash Yatra has returned back from Kailash Kund to ancient Vasuki Nag Temple, Gatha in Bhaderwah on Monday after performing all the traditional rituals as per the past practice,” he said.
Arjun Singh, Manager of Dharmarth Trust along with a few devotees and Pujaris after due permission of the local administration have left along with Chhari Mubarak, Gandotra informed.
It is pertinent to mention here that Kailash Kund is a lake of 1.5 mile circumference with crystal clear water and it is located at a height of over 17,700 feet from the sea level. As per mythological belief, the Kailash Kund was the original abode of Lord Shiva, but he later gave it to Vasuki Nag and went to live in Manimahesh of Himachal Pradesh’s Bharmour.
