Holistic development of rural areas Govt’s priority: Ganga

SAMBA, Feb 12: “Development of rural areas for improving economy of underprivileged and poor was among the top priorities of Government”, stated Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga today during a public grievances redressal camp held in village Tanda-Burj, at Vijaypur.
The people of Tanda-Burj and adjoining Panchayats put forth their demands and problems regarding upgradation of power infrastructure,  laying of water supply pipes, opening of health and veterinary  centres and revenue related issues.
Highlighting Government’s initiatives for growth and development of the State, the Minister said the Government is committed to provide better road infrastructure in the State especially in far off pockets with all basic amenities. He appealed the people to extend complete cooperation to the Government agencies for effective implementation of development schemes.
The Minister asked the concerned officers to take immediate steps for redressal of issues raised by the people within shortest possible time. He directed them to conduct frequent visits and hold awareness camps in the far flung areas to raise awareness regarding welfare schemes launched by the Centre and State Governments. He also asked them to upgrade road from Supwal to Harminder Sahib, renovation of nallah adjacent to Gurudwara Sahib besides development of lanes and drains to improve sanitation in these areas.
Maintaining that industry is one of the major sectors where large number of people can get absorbed to earn their livelihood, the Minister said that the Industries and Commerce Department is making all out efforts to generate employment opportunities for unemployed youth of the state. He said that establishment of leading manufacturing units of India in J&K will immensely boost State’s economy and investments by big houses in the State would open new job avenues for the youth. “The Government is focusing on skill development of youth to make them capable according to the requirements of today’s industry”, he maintained.
