Mahant Ravi Nath apprised the visiting dignitaries that Peerkho Temple has given land to Tourism Department, JMC, PHE and Sports as was needed by concerned departments from time to time to carry out their respective activities. He said that temple authorities had always remained generous in donating land to the departments but expect development in return which though is going on but at a very slow pace.
The meeting unanimously decided to invite Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh to sort out issues of Peerkho Temple so that religious tourism in Jammu gets a fillip. Mahant Rajesh Bittu proposed to invite Dr Jitendra Singh which was agreed upon by the members present there. Jammu is hub of religious tourism and Peerkho being located in the heart of city has Jamwant Cave where Lord Krishna is also believed to have visited the site. Being historic this temple site and its adjoining areas need massive development.
The meeting informed that Rs 3.60 crore central assistance in three phases for development of Peerkho Temple premises and adjoining areas including parks, gardens and facilities were sanctioned out of which Rs 70 lakh was released in the first phase and utilised but since utilisation certificate was not sent by concerned departments to the Centre, additional funds were blocked. This is the reason Temple Committee decided to invite and apprise Union Minister about status of funds and development so that he can take up the matter with concerned authorities.
Raman Suri General Secretary Tourism Federation said that Tourism Federation will extend full support to the management of temple for the holistic development of Jamwant Cave and entire adjoining area.
