JAMMU, Feb 1: President of Jammu and Kashmir Bachao Tehreek and former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that holding of dialogue to resolve Kashmir crisis has become inevitable now and if there is more delay in holding parleys for establishing permanent peace in Kashmir valley then situation in coming years will resemble like hell.
In a statement, he urged both India and Pakistan to come closer and understand the present scenario and adopt a fruitful and result oriented mechanism to diffuse tension and bury the enmity forever. He said that both the countries should allow good senses to prevail upon them and come closer as delay in curbing worst situation is adversely affecting the population of both the countries as well as their growth.
Former Minister, while criticizing the approach of Union Government towards Kashmir, said that discussing CBMs with mainstream politicians of J&K is going to yield nothing unless and until Hurriyat and other separatist leaders’ voices are heard and taken into account. He said that appointment of interlocutor and his talks with mainstream parties is a mere wastage of time and will never infuse confidence amongst the masses in J&K. He reiterated that recommendations of previous Working Groups and Rangarajan Committee need to implemented in letter and spirit so that trust of common people is regained back to some extent.
Vakil also expressed concern over the unabated civilian killings in Kashmir valley as well as on LoC. He said that skirmishes between India and Pakistan have become a routine now and needs to be resolved once for all. He said that India being a big country needs to walk extra mile and show magnanimity to defuse mounting tension on LoC.
Vakil said that hostility between India and Pakistan has become an economic boon for China, France, Russia, USA etc as they are treating both the countries as a potential market for selling their war weapons and are always in move to infuse more enmity amongst these two nations through their dubious and doubtful character. He said that it is high time for both the countries to understand such nefarious designs of so called friends who are busy in damaging the economy of both India and Pakistan.
