HoDs asked to install SSL certificate in official websites

JAMMU, Nov 27: In compliance to the advisory issued by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the J&K Government has asked all the Administrative Secretaries to take measures for installation of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate in their concerned department’s websites and applications.
A circular in this regard was issued today, according to which all the Administrative Secretaries/HoDs have been asked to direct the concerned in their departments to take measures for installation/renewal of SSL certificate in their respective websites/application.
Further, the CEO JaKeGA/SIO NIC has been asked to nominate an officer/official to facilitate all government Departments/organizations for making the website/application SSL certificate compliant.
Earlier, the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, government of India, issued advisory for installation of SSL certificate in all the Government websites/applications.
The SSL certificate increases the privacy and security of a website. Furthermore, a padlock in the address bar in the browser indicates that website is secure and increases trust of citizens on the Government websites.
