HM reaches Jammu on 3-day visit

JAMMU, Feb 5: Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached here late tonight on three-day visit to Jammu during which he will visit the International Border in Hiranagar sector in Kathua district and review security situation in the UT at a high-level meeting.

Shah landed here around 11 PM and straightway drove to the Lok Bhavan. His arrival was delayed as scheduled earlier. He was received at the Airport by LG Manoj Sinha.
Top officials of MHA, heads of paramilitary forces, Intelligence agencies among others have also reached here ahead of Shah’s security review meeting.
The Home Minister will visit forward areas on the International Border including Border Outposts of Gurnam and Bobiya in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district tomorrow morning and will inspect arrangements made by the BSF for curbing infiltration from Pakistan. He will e-inaugurate and lay e-foundation of six welfare schemes for the BSF personnel from Bobiya border outpost.
During Monsoon floods in August-September last year, some posts and fencing of the BSF were damaged which have been repaired.
He will interact with the BSF officers and jawans on the International Border and take feedback on the situation.
Shah will hold high-level meeting to review security situation in Jammu and Kashmir at the Lok Bhavan here tomorrow afternoon after his return from the International Border.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, top officials of MHA, heads of paramilitary forces from New Delhi as well as J&K, Intelligence agencies, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat and other senior officers of police and intelligence from Jammu and Kashmir will attend the meeting, among others.
Sources said a comprehensive review of security situation will be held in the meeting especially about ongoing anti-terrorist operations in the hilly areas of Jammu region against the foreign terrorists hiding there. Only yesterday, security forces gunned down three Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists including two in Basantgarh, Udhampur and one in Chatroo, Kishtwar.
Later, the Home Minister will distribute compassionate appointment letters and meet families of martyrs at the Lok Bhawan.
On February 7 morning, Shah will review development of Jammu and Kashmir at a high-level meeting. He will return in the afternoon.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah besides senior officers of MHA and civil administration from Jammu and Kashmir will attend the development review meeting of the Home Minister.
Security has been intensified in the Jammu region ahead of the Home Minister’s visit.
