JAMMU, Oct 9: Akhnoor police has claimed to have solved a hit and run case within one hour of its occurrence.
According to a police official, an unknown truck driven in rash and negligent manner by an unknown driver hit a bike (bearing registration number JK02CK-3853) and killed its rider on the spot at Muthi, while on its way from Jourian to Akhnoor, late last evening.
He said the truck driver fled from the crime spot along with his vehicle. The deceased was identified as Bachan Sharma son of Barmanand, resident of Muthi, he further said, adding, the body was shifted to SDH Akhnoor for postmortem while a case FIR number 172/2020 U/S 279/304A was registered in this connection at police station Akhnoor.
Accordingly, two police teams were constituted which made hectic efforts and traced out the truck (bearing registration number JK02AH-3187) involved in the accident within one hour. The truck loaded with 270 bags of wheat was seized at Punnu naka and the accused driver namely Ram Lal son of Sobha Ram, resident of Satwari (Jammu) was arrested.
