JAMMU, Aug 8: A collection of Dogri poems “Hirakhae Di Peed” (pangs of love) by Tara Danpuri was released here today in the presence of writers, poets, intellectuals and prominent members of civil society.
Published by the writer himself, the released book incorporating 67 poems, is the first collection of poetry of Danpuri who is an acclaimed fiction writer with two novels and three short story collections in Dogri to his credit.
In his welcome address, Chhatrapal, president of Dogri Sanstha said that poetry has played historical role in popularizing  Dogri since the formative years of Dogri Sanstha and the process is continuing with new poets joining the movement.
A brief critical review on the book was also presented by Dr Chanchal Bhasin who elaborated style and thought contents of the poems.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Vijay Sambyal, Station Director, Radio Kashmir Jammu said that literature reflects culture, traditions and invaluable heritage besides enriching lives.
He said Radio Kashmir Jammu is making its contribution to the enrichment of poetry by organizing Dogri Kavi Sammelan at the door steps of people at various places.
The function was presided over by this year’s Sahitya Akademi awardee and close associate of Danpuri namely Shailender Singh.
Tara Danpuri recited some poems from his book which were much admired by the audience.
A short kavi goshti was also marked the function which was conducted by well known Dogri/Hindi poet and general secretary Dogri Sanstha, Dr Nirmal Vinod.
