JAMMU, Apr 29: Nirvana Academy Cultural Club in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a Hindustani Classical Music Concert “Mangal Dhwani” at KL Saigal Hall, here today.
Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society Jammu region RC Puri was the chief guest while Krishan Lal Verma, retd HoD Fine Arts College was the guest of honour.
The programme started with the welcome address by Dr Sudhir Mahajan, followed by Hindustani Classical Music recital by Rakesh Kalotra.
Classical music lovers of Jammu city were feted to mesmerizing performance of most promising youngster Rakesh Kalotra who commenced his recital with Badha Khayal in raag Madhuwanti “Suniye nath gareeb nawaz” followed by chota khayal “Unhi so mori lagan lagi re”. He also recited “Batoon batoon mei beet gyi raat” a thumri in Mishr Pahari raag and he concluded with “Koi kahiyo re prabhu bhavan ki maan bhavan ki” a bhajan in raag Bharaavi.
Neeraj Verma accompanied Rakesh on tabla, Mukesh Kumar on tanpura and Maninder Sharma on harmonium.
Hitesh Badyal, president Nirvana Academy presented vote of thanks.
