NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the youth of Jammu and Kashmir have been shown a new way to forge ahead with confidence by the ‘Himayat’ programme that is helping them transform their lives.
Talking to the countrymen in the last edition of Mann Ki Baat this year, Prime Minister Modi said with such a unique placement linked skill development and enhancing programme in place, the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are being provided with a platform through which they are now forging ahead by getting employment.
He also mentioned about various youths who had trained under the programme and got placements in corporate sectors.
Himayat offers a wide range of skill development programmes that include retail management, leadership and others that are job as well as entrepreneurship oriented.
PM Modi, emphasizing on the youth said ,”Young India” will play a major role in the coming decade, as they not only have faith and belief in the system ,but, also have their own opinion.
The Himayat is a placement linked skill training programme for the unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir and between 15 to 35 years of age.
In the past two years, 18,000 youths, who were trained in 77 disciplines, have benefited from the initiative.
Many of them have also became entrepreneurs.
This programme is being run by the Himayat Mission Management Unit of Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihoods Mission and have been changing lives for good of disadvantaged teenagers. (AGENCIES)
