Himachal to get multi-crore pharma park

UNA (HP), Aug 31:
Ahead of assembly elections, the Central Government has approved a multi-crore Pharma Park for bulk medicine in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district that will aim to end dependence on China besides providing lakhs of jobs.
A letter in this regard has been received by the State Government that said 90 per cent of the project cost will be provided with a ceiling of Rs 1,000 crore. The park will see an investment of around Rs 10,000 crore.
With the establishment of this park, about 20,000 people will get direct and indirect employment.
For setting up the park, 1,405 acres of land has been identified at Polian, Tibbi, Malluwal in Haroli Tehsil of District Una, said a spokesman of the Industries department.
The main objective of allotting Bulk Drug Pharma Park to the state is to encourage domestic drug manufacturing and ensure drug safety. Apart from this, salts used in medicines will also be prepared here. This will reduce dependence on China. Notably, there are more than 600 pharmacy manufacturing units in the state and the annual demand for bulk medicine in the state and their turnover is about Rs 35,000 crore per annum.
The Centre will give Rs 1,000 crore rupees for the development of infrastructure facilities at the park. About 100.120 MW power is required for the park.
To give additional incentive to the investors, the Government will provide electricity at the rate of Rs 3 per unit for 10 years.
The land rate of Re 1 per sqm per annum for 33 years, stamp duty exemption will be available in addition to zero maintenance charges and warehouse charges for 10 years.
In the proposal of the State Government to ensure high return of maximum investment to the investors, 7 per cent interest on term loans up to Rs 51 lakh per annum and 70 per cent rebate on net SGST was also offered. With the construction of the park, the demand for bulk medicine will be met. The pharmacy companies of the state will get the raw material right here.
This will save the cost as well as time of the pharma companies Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sanctioning the bulk drug park. He said the allocation of the project of national importance to Himachal will also provide employment besides giving prominence to the state. (UNI)
