Sir,
Constitution of India has put a great responsibility on our Member of Parliament. The survival of the democracy is based on the proceedings in Parliament. Have these MPs introspected what type of efforts are being made by them in every session, which we see live .
Several crores of money is wasted in Central schemes, viz Mid day meals in schools NREGA, Sad-Bhawana, Medical Schemes etc. by the State. While only 20 per cent money is spent on public and rest goes in the pockets of officers. All link roads under Prime Minister Rozgar Yojna have disappeared on the ground. It is irony that not a single member is worried about implementation of these schemes. The law and order situation is worsening day by day specially in respect of women folk. A delegation of 31 members visited J&K State in the month of June this year and several lakhs have been spent on their lodging and touring.
The recommendations and demands for raising salary and perks of MPs is most unjustified in the circumstances in which prices are rising day by day and people are crying. There are still several lakhs people who dwell on the footpaths, in the concrete pipes and feeding on the “Joothan” thrown by the people on the garbage heaps.
The country has got rid of hundreds of kings ruling the country before Independence. Now, it is burdened with hundreds of democratic kings (MPs). According to a report of Democratic Reforms Associations 82 percent MP’s i.e 442 MP’s are crorepaties. Every MP and MLA in addition to his monthly salary (which amount to lakhs of rupees)
Gets additional compensation for sessions days
Constituency allowance, Dearness Allowance, Office Expenses, 50,000 free units of power , 1,70,000 free telephone calls, Free Bunglow with AC and furniture including purtains, Washing Allowance, Free air travel with spouse in business class.
The list of the perks is too long to contain in it. How many MPs have surrendered subsidy on LPG.
Keeping in view all the above facilities available to MPs the hike in perks would irritate public.
Yours etc…
