People of Samba in particular were felt jubilant and were eagerly waiting for completion of widening of the Highway. The road is of vital importance because it is considered as life time for Jammu and Kashmir. The road project is part of NH1A’s flagship project of four lanning.
The people of Samba are made to suffer on account of dilapidated condition of the National Highway especially the road passing through Municipal limits. In spite of great improvement in the road condition the said portion is still prone to accidents.
At raulway over crossing the work got delayed due to site constraints like construction of the sub way. This problems is also being faced at railway over Head crossing point on Kunjwani to Narwal road.
The NHAI which is executing agency for the work requires more time for completion of stretches on the road under reference especially for Samba chapter. Incomplete stretches may continue to hit a smooth drive on road. The pending stretches will be completed within the stipulated time. It will change the complexion of trade, tourism and transportation along this road. Travel it will be made more secure and risk free.
Drainage system has not been properly laid and maintained which is in worst condition and has led to health hazards in the area as the drainage water over flowing the roads enter the houses and create havoc. Local roads are not properly connected with the main road and are in worst condition and they have virtually become death trap for the people.
There is no passenger shed hence a construction of 5 meters high retaining wall on the opposite side of new Bus stand can help in constructing a passenger shed.
Even no ornamental or otherwise plants have been raised on the ‘Divider’ simply for greenry purpose. Hoping that the Union Ministry of surface and Transport and the authorities at the helm of affairs shall concede to our just and genuine demands so that the development would prove to be substantial for the future progeny.
The Distt. Administration may also extend all cooperation to the National Highway Authority of India for speed work and take step for renovation of the roads which have added to the problems considerably in the area so that the people may not be forced to come on roads and register their anger and seek justice for proper maintenance of the road.
